Rod Lange, Sergeant First Class, U.S. Army (retired) has extended this invitation:

We’re conducting a Civil War, period-correct burial ceremony for our ancestor, John Chafin, in Brown County at the Mt. Zion Cemetery.

You’re invited to attend the event on April 22 at 1 p.m.

A Civil War re-enactment group will conduct the burial ceremony, salutes with rifles and cannons, and a bugler to play Taps.

The Veterans Affairs Office is providing the period-correct Union Force headstone.

The United States Army detail will present the family with a U.S. flag.

A local pastor will open the ceremony with prayer and close it with prayer.

Descendant family members of the Civil War soldier will attend the ceremony, and we expect local people as well, weather-permitting of course.

Our extended family has served in the military since the inception of this country, honorably serving during the American Revolution, The War of 1812, Civil War, WWI, WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War, The Cold War and the Iraq War.
